Sundance fave parties at SPC
Sony Pictures Classics to release 'Quinceanera'

'Quinceanera'
Sony Pictures Classics will release rite-of-passage pic and Sundance film fest award winner 'Quinceanera,' starring Emily Rios.

Sony Pictures Classics has acquired North American and Latin American rights to "Quinceanera."

Indie by writer-helmer duo Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland won the top jury and audience prizes at Sundance earlier this year.

Pic, a glimpse into the Mexican community in Los Angeles' gentrifying Echo Park, revolves around a 15th birthday ceremony marking a girl's passage to womanhood. Emily Rios, Chalo Gonzalez and Jesse Garcia star.

Todd Haynes and Kitchen Sink Entertainment exec produced the film, which Anne Clements produced.

Sony specialty arm is headed by Tom Bernard and Michael Barker. SPC is in current release with the Oscar winner "Capote," docu "Why We Fight" and Michael Haneke's import "Cache." SPC recently picked up the music docu "American Hardcore," another Sundance preem.
