Schumann cops Camera prize
Journo receives appreciation prize during Forum's reception

The Berlinale on Thursday awarded the Berlinale Camera to Peter Schumann, a long-time staff member of the Forum sidebar.

Schumann received the appreciation prize during the Forum's reception at the glamorously shabby Volksbuehne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, which was followed by the sidebar's annual blowout party.

Schuman, a journalist, has worked for the Forum for 35 years and prior to that headed the fest's Retrospective section from 1966 to 1970.

As an expert on Latin America, Schumann has played a significant role in shaping the Intl. Forum of New Cinema. He has worked with the sidebar since its inception in 1971.

The Berlinale Camera is presented to film personalities or institutions to which the fest feels especially indebted.
