Dream cars for Dream Girls
Volkswagen parks art hoping for passerbys to take a peek

Puzzled by the Berlin bottleneck? Wondering why all the cars look the same? Well, you weren't dreaming -- they are the same. Those 25 little red Volkswagens lined up along Stresemann Strasse, between Potsdamer Platz and the Martin Gropius Bau, were a piece of installation art specially conceived by fest sponsor Volkswagen.

The cars are one of VW's newest models, the Fox. The exhib is called "Dream Girls," and, yes, they were speaking to you.

With the windows fogged out, the seductive voices of the screen sirens of yesteryear were there to entice you to take a peek through the viewing port, read the ladies' bios and watch their clips.

It might have made a funny movie had VW secretly filmed the mystified reactions of passersby, followed by their knowing smiles once they'd worked out their mental traffic jam.
