Lauren Horwitch was a freelance writer and dot-com refugee who joined the Variety editorial team in February 2002. She previously wrote, edited and developed original content for Lightspan.com, an award-winning education web site, and received a BA in Comparative Literature from the University of Oregon. In addition to her responsibilities at Variety, she covers film, music and L.A. life for several publications, including Campus Circle and Los Angeles In Magazine. Her passion for good writing is rivaled only by her pursuit of the perfect piece of sushi.
