Martin Dale has reported on the Portuguese film industry for Variety since 1996. He is author of two books on the European film industry - Europa, Europa (1992) and The Movie Game (1997), and is script tutor for the Barcelona-based course, PILOTS. In Portugal he has worked for the film institute (ICAM), the Institute for the Media and the public broadcaster, RTP. In 2002 he produced and directed a feature film, Light, shown in the Fantasporto film festival.
