Title: Film Critic - Houston
Email: joeleydon@yahoo.com
Joe Leydon was born and raised in New Orleans, where he acquired a taste for fine food and hearty partying at an early age. He graduated from Loyola University, where he developed an equally passionate regard for Francois Truffaut and Charlie Chaplin. From 1982 until 1995, Leydon was film critic for The Houston Post. Since the paper's demise, he has reviewed films for MSNBC.com, NBC affiliate KPRC-TV, The Houston Press and the San Francisco Examiner. He currently is a film critic and regional correspondent for Variety, communications director for Cowboys & Indians magazine, a contributing writer for MovieMaker magazine and an adjunct professor at University of Houston and Houston Community College. Leydon was book review editor for Motion Pictures magazine and DVD columnist for Stereophile Guide to Home Theater, and has written features for The Los Angeles Times, Newsday, New York Daily News, The Boston Globe and The Nashville Tennessean. He is the proud father of George Leydon (who is an upstanding young man only because of his mother) and the reluctant co-owner of a moody cat named Little O. His book "Joe Leydon's Guide to Essential Movies You Must See" (Michael Wiese Productions) is available at fine bookstores everywhere. His website is www.movingpictureshow.com, and he blogs at www.movingpictureblog.blogspot.com.
