John Nadler has been reporting for Variety from the Hollywood backlot of central Europe since the mid-1990s. Before coming onboard, he covered the Hungarian media's bumpy transition to the free market for Budapest Week and The European, two publications now as defunct as communism. He is also the Balkan correspondent for Canada's Southam newspapers,and has filed war-time media dispatches for Variety from capitals such as Belgrade, Pristina and Skopje. His book, "Searching for Sofia: A Tale of Obsession, Murder, and War," will be published by Random House/Doubleday Canada in Spring 2003.
