LONDON -- Twentieth Century Fox was crowned distributor of the year at the sixth RAAM awards, held at the Marriott Hotel-Grosvenor Square in London on Wednesday. Ceremony fetes high flyers in the U.K. and Irish film distribution biz.

Fox's "Avatar" won Imax 3D movie of the year.

Other notable recipients included "Slumdog Millionaire" helmer Danny Boyle, who took the international award, and Disney-Pixar's "Up," which drew the nod for Technicolor 3D film.

Film of the year went to Warner Bros' "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince."

Kudos for distribution went to Stewart Till of Icon Films, while the independent cinema operator honor was nabbed by David Williams of WTW cinemas.

"For the first time the U.K. market passed the £1 billion ($1.6 billion) mark. This is a major achievement and shows that, despite the recession, the U.K. and Irish cinema had a fantastic year," said Roger Pollock, Paramount Pictures Intl. exec VP and a member of the RAAM awards board.
