Jablonski, who produced and directed Cold War documentary "War Games and the Man Who Stopped Them" -- the true story of Polish defector Colonel Richard Kuklinski -- is due to receive the Ignacy Paderewski Art and Music Award, granted by Pilsudski Institute of America.
The institution -- set up after the war -- is one of the leading Polish bodies internationally and awards medals for outstanding achievement in the fields of history, literature, art and for activities for the benefit of Poland and the Polish living abroad.
Its awards committee includes veteran Polish film director Andrzej Wajda, the British historian and writer Norman Davies, Tadeusz Gromada -- professor of history and president of the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in New York and Krzysztof W. Kasprzyk -- Poland's consul general in New York.
"War Games" is due to open Amsterdam's IDFA documentary film festival on Nov. 19, the first Polish film to open the festival.
The screening will also be the international premiere of the film.
