With no other releases left for the year, Fox Searchlight will now open Jeff Bridges-Maggie Gyllenhaal starrer "Crazy Heart" on Dec. 16 in time for an awards run.
Back to topMarking the feature directorial debut of Scott Cooper, "Crazy Heart" follows the story of boozing and broken-down country singer Bad Blake (Bridges), who finds redemption with the help of a young journalist (Gyllenhaal).
Cooper adapted the script from the novel by Thomas Cobb. Robert Duvall also stars.
Producers are Cooper, Rob Carliner, Judy Cairo and T Bone Burnett, who also produced the original music for the film.
Searchlight acquired the pic in July, and had originally planned on a first quarter 2010 release.
Bridges is in theaters this weekend with Overture Films' George Clooney topliner "The Men Who Stare at Goats."
