Elvis Presley’s bandmates Bill Black and DJ Fontana will be inducted in the sidemen category along with the keyboardist-songwriter Spooner Oldham. A woman who once dated the King, rockabilly singer Wanda Jackson, is getting in under the early influence banner.
Among the acts that appeared on the ballot but did not get in were the Stooges and War.
The April 4 induction ceremony will be the first to take place in Cleveland in 12 years. It will be broadcast live on Fuse TV as part of a new three-year broadcast deal between the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation and Fuse. For the first time in its 24-year history, tickets to the induction ceremony will be available to the public.
The performer inductees were chosen by the 600 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.
