RAAM is a U.K.-based conference, trade show and awards ceremony dedicated to the British and Irish film exhibition and distribution industry.

Bart will receive the award at a gala dinner Feb. 8 in London.

Tony Meehan, chairman of RAAM, said, “The award to Peter Bart is in recognition of his long and distinguished career in film production, as an author and his editorial achievements on the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Variety.”

Bart said, “It has been my great pleasure to interact with the film industry as both an executive and as an editor, all of which has given me both deep respect and empathy for its practitioners. I would like to think I have learned from both sectors of experience, but readily acknowledge that the executive part was far more taxing.”

Bart served as VP production at Paramount Pictures, as prexy of Lorimar and as senior VP of MGM/UA.

He became editor of Variety in 1989 and has written eight books, most recently “Boffo! How I Learned to Love the Blockbuster and Fear the Bomb.”
