Award recognizes individuals and orgs that have made "distinguished contributions to American culture" through their impact on the worlds of film and TV. Also set for DGA Honors are Robert Rosen, dean of UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television; U.S. Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.); and Irwin Young, chairman of Gotham post-production giant DuArt.
Directors Guild of America national veep Steven Soderbergh called the kudos a tribute to those who have "committed themselves to bringing about positive changes in society, whether it be through film or television production, advocacy or humanitarian work."
Conyers is being recognized for his longtime support of protecting intellectual property rights and other creative issues.
The seventh DGA Honors will be presented Oct. 16 at the DGA Theater in Gotham.
