Pic completes Van Gogh trilogy
The project is a redo of slain Dutch filmmaker Van Gogh's 1994 pic "06," about two lonely souls who meet through a sex chat line. Title refers to the digits required to dial such lines in the Netherlands.
At the time of the remake trilogy announcement a few years ago, Bob Balaban was set to direct the film.
The second in the series, "Blind Date," starts shooting in Belgium on May 28 with Stanley Tucci at the helm. Tucci will be taking on thesping duties as well, along with Patricia Clarkson.
Pic concerns a couple who have lost a child and try to rebuild their relationship by pretending to be other people meeting on blind dates.
Producer Bruce Weiss said: "To be able to work with two actors and a director of this caliber is always a producer's dream. We are looking forward to working with John Turturro on number three."
The trilogy kicked off with a remake of Van Gogh's 2003 film "Interview," helmed by and starring Steve Buscemi, who also had a role in Turturro's last directorial effort, "Romance & Cigarettes."
"Interview," which co-stars Sienna Miller, bowed at Sundance and was acquired by Sony Pictures Classics. Pic has its first market screening in Cannes and is skedded for a Stateside theatrical release on July 13.
Cinemavault is handling worldwide sales on the trilogy.
