CANNES — Forest Whitaker and Jessica Biel have boarded ensemble drama "Powder Blue," set up by Eleven Eleven Films in association with Spirit Dance Entertainment and Grosvenor Park Media.

Pic is helmed by Timothy Linh Bui, brother of "Three Seasons" director Tony Bui.

Shooting is set to start in late July in L.A. Plot finds four eclectic characters — a mortician, an ex-con, a suicidal ex-priest and a stripper — brought together on Christmas Eve by a mixture of circumstances.

Timothy Linh Bui ("Green Dragon") also wrote the script from a story by Stephane Gauger ("Owl and the Sparrow"). Producers are Whitaker, Bobby Schwartz, Ross M. Dinerstein, Tracee Stanley-Newell and Timothy Linh Bui.

Exec producers are the Collective's Shaun Redick and Jeff Golenberg and QED Intl.'s Bill Block and Kimberly Fox. Grosvenor Park is financing and QED is selling international rights. Redick is selling North America.

Project is one of several on tap for the busy Whitaker on the heels of his Oscar win for "The Last King of Scotland." His upcoming films include "The Great Debaters," alongside Denzel Washington, who is also directing; "Night Watch" with Keanu Reeves; "Where the Wild Things Are" for director Spike Jonze; "The Air I Breathe" with Kevin Bacon and Andy Garcia; and "Vantage Point," opposite Dennis Quaid and Matthew Fox.
