Someone get the hose...
HFPA Vice President Mike Goodridge is taking his own counter-shots at Sharon Waxman in the LA Times' opinion section, where Waxman beat the deadest horse on earth yet again last week with an angry little tirade against the organization.
Children will be children.

Red Carpet District is Variety contributor Kristopher Tapley's attempt at making sense of the ever-expanding glut of film awards coverage. He's been on the beat for six years. Email

Agreed on those fronts. Sadly the issues of necessity are consistently drowned out by pieces like this by Waxman, Roger Friedman and the like. I'm in agreement with most of what Goodridge has to say, but these things getting drug through public forums like this keeps the bar pretty low.

Kris: I had a slightly different reaction to Goodridge's defense of the HFPA. The sensible thing for the org to do is make Goodridge the president when Camara's term ends and keep him there as long as they can. The real story of the HFPA is the generational schism that is occuring as some newer members are ready to embrace change and upgrade and also aren't that into being the whipping boys. I mean, look around. Should Waxman continue beating the stuffing out of the HFPA as Perez Hilton becomes richer and more powerful than any member of that org?
