Overthinking did me in
You know, MSN's Greg Ellwood, who oversees all those Buzzmeter prediction collections each and every week, said something to me last week at which I scoffed at the time. And it seems to have bitten me in the butt.
Let me explain.
The final agregation of guesses took place way back on Tuesday of last week, which, to those of us who predict and bandy about guesses in our heads all the way up until the day before nominations, was quite distressing. Nevertheless, I offered up my safe and best guesses of that moment, and passed my concerns on to Greg, who told me, "When people overthink it, they tend to be wrong. Perhaps we're helping everyone."
Boy that rubbed me wrong at the time. But you know what? He was right.
Of course, I can't take the credit I've been handed by Tom O'Neil over at Gold Derby, because my real final guesses went up the day before the nominations announcement, per tradition. And I made some considerable changes at the last minute that cost me the laurels rightly due O'Neil and, as always, Dave Karger. So congrats, you scoundrels. Next year, I'm taking Greg's advice to heart!
