FINAL UPDATE: Guilds continue to clear up the picture

With all pre-nom guilds accounted for (save for the MPSE, which tends to nominate after the Oscar nods), the six frontrunners remain unscathed, and even pull closer to one another with "No Country for Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood" missing with the Costume Designers Guild.  "Sweeney Todd" still lurks in the shadows, and "Atonement" is hoping for major support from BAFTA cross-over voters, but this looks to be the dance.  Pick five and hold your breath.

8 guild mentions:

don't be so sure that Atonement is out of the race, remember: Iwo Jima wasn't the only one with almost zero love from the Guilds(due to it's late release) Atonement could pull a CHOCOLAT OR ELIZABETH upset.(no PGA or DGA love for both, only Chocolat got a WGA mention)

Sound reasoning, wesley.

SAG voters, actors and actresses, are the majority of voters in the Academy, so I guess as Into the Wild is top on SAG nominations, it's gonna be in the run for Best Picture in the Academy Awards.

Thanks Alison.

Kris, the numbers are right but you forgot to add PGA under There Will Be Blood and Michael Clayton.

Although, to be honest, a movie like NCfOM - with it's immense support - has an easy time getting nominations from places like the freakin' art directors guild. I mean, sure, it's got good "contemporary" art direction, but the contemporary categories are always ridiculous. They’re just filled with the critically aclaimed movies and maybe a zeitgeist hit or two.

Surely something like “Grindhouse” deserves a contemporary costume nod? “Black Snake Moan” for contemporary art direction? Sure, and others too, but they’d never get a nomination because – wow – “Michael Clayton” had some nice offices? Meh.

WEIRD. Thanks.

Thanks for this list of tallies, I was wondering what it looked like.

But you got a little carried away with dishing out CAS noms... neither Sweeney nor Hairspray received mentions by CAS!
