FEATURES: Golden Globes Preview
Variety's Golden Globes Preview feature edition landed yesterday. Here's a look at some of the stories:Daniel Frankel has to quote publicists anonymously (they like to stay in the shadows) but does a nice job of charting the growth of the "awards team" in today's Oscar season environment. Key quote: "These [PR] top guns can pull in more than $50,000 a month, one PR maven says, with bonus structures thrown in based on the nominations they generate." I think I'm in the wrong business.
Zachary Pincus-Roth spotlights the 20 top comedy/musical contenders. "The Darjeeling Limited?" Really?
HFPA chief Jorge Camara's plans for a fifth term at the top of the heap is outlined by Bill Higgins.
And, of course, a printed list of all 82 voting members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Recognize anyone? Me neither. Well, good ole' Emanuel Levy is in there.
Oh, and don't forget, Steven Spielberg is slated to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
There's plenty more where that came from. Give it a look.
Red Carpet District is Variety contributor Kristopher Tapley's attempt at making sense of the ever-expanding glut of film awards coverage. He's been on the beat for six years. Email

Anyway, you can verify the authencity of this right here: www.hollywoodblog.globolog.com.br. I tried to find the html for the single post, but couldn't. This article in which she mentions how the HPFA is gonna vote is still up at the main page. I know you don't understand Portuguese, but you can scroll down and find the photos. Then, Babelfish it.

I've sent you a message to your incontention mail box days ago on this GG subject. I don't know whether you got it or just didn't want to reply, but it was a translation of a post from a HFPA voter, on the supporting categories. I'll post here, if you don't mind, ok? Hi, Kris, Here's Caleb Roth, an amateur oscarwatcher. When you were on Oscarwatch's boards, sometimes we had a bit of talk. I've been here all time reading your stories at In Contention and now, at Variety. Anyway, I've just posted this at Awards Daily's Forums. It might interest you. "From Ana Maria Bahiana's blog. She is a columnist at Brazil's biggest TV network's site and former editor of Brazil's biggest movie magazine, SET. You can find her article here, just after the strike post. I'll try to translate it, but please forgive me my Portuguese and my English. (Brazilians could help?) "Three weeks before the Golden Globes nominations annoucement (on December 13th), it's interesting to note what categories have major consensus: they are the ones the induce less excitement on PR people. I can't, according to HPFA rules, to reveal completely how my colleagues and I are thinking to vote. But, (can't understand "sem rasgar muito", help, please), I can say Best Actor and Best Actress, drama are really calm. Things are nervous when it comes to comedy/musical categories - yes, good box-office must have helped Enchanted with the Academy, but she had already had praise from HPFA - and there is some excitement on Best Picture, Drama that still has two spots for grabs. But things are really hot in the supporting categories. There are no certain things in this categories so important to release and upgrade some careers. Right now, some strong names: Cate Blanchett for I'm not There, Saoirse Ronan and Vanessa Redgrave for Atonement, Javier Bardem for No Country for Old Men, much more than his turn in Love in The Time of the Cholera, and Michael Cera for Juno. But don't, in any way, count out Tilda Swinton and Tom Wilkinson for Michel Clayton - she is a statue of manipulative coldness, he is guily moving disaster -, Catherine Keener for the hippie mommy in Into the Wild, Paul Dano, a surprise as a charismatic preacher in There Will Be Blood and - in a real chance for the dangered-positioned (I can't understand "ameaçado" in this context. help?) Zodiac - Robert Downey Jr. Many others brought up on your emails are not worthy to be remembered." Then, she posts photos of 3 men and 3 women (maybe her votes?): Women: Catherine Keener Tilda Swinton Vanessa Redgrave Men: Robert Downey, Jr. Tom Wilkinson Paul Dano." What do you think about it?
