Byrne to dangle at Dingle
Ireland's Dingle Film Festival will give Gabriel Byrne its first Gregory Peck Award for Excellence in the Art of Film. Bryne will attend the fest Sept 11-14. Fest screenings will include "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas," "The Wackness," and "Anvil: The Story of Anvil."
Barbara Kopple will give a master class on her Woody Allen doc, "Wild Man Blues," and Steadicam inventor Garrett Brown will talk about "The Art of the Moving Camera."
Quite a lineup for a coastal Irish town of under 2000 people and 1 dolphin, who pleasured the tourists so well they put his likeness on Main Street.
Other wiki-search says the town's name was to be reverted back to its original Irish name, An Daingean, but the townsfolk rose in protest, spraypainting "Dingle" on the new city signs.
So the English name for their beloved dolphin? Fungi. Fungi the Dolphin. Poor chap.
