Bahamas gets celebs, gives cash

Bahamas fest will honor Daryl Hannah with a Career Achievement award, to be presented by Sean Connery at the upcoming event on Dec 8.   Also, Naomie Harris ("Miami Vice" "28 Days Later" "Pirates of the Caribbean 2") will receive BIFF's special Rising Star Tribute.  

In addition, Ansbacher (offshore bank and trust company) & BIFF will award $10,000 to an independent Bahamian and Caribbean filmmaker through BIFF's Filmmaker Residency Program.  The prize money will go directly towards the development and production of the selected recipient's film. Those presiding over the decision will be Shoreline Entertainment CEO Morris Ruskin, filmmaker Lawrence Konner ("Mighty Joe Young"), producer Norman Golightly ("Ghost Rider"), veteran film festival director Nicole Guillemet, and writer/director Susan Jacobsen.

The Bahamas International Film Festival runs  Dec 6-13.
