SXSW: Global Doc Days
Though China lost Spielberg, they still have SXSW, where the country is involved in the fest's inaugural "Global Doc Days," an initiative that highlights prizewinning work from eight countries. SXSW says the Chinese program offers "some insight into the politics, economics and culture of this rapidly developing superpower."
"China's Grip on Africa" studies how the country secures valuable resources in Africa, much to the chagrin of the West.
"Brat Camp China" takes a look at the pampered sons and daughters of China's nouveau riche.
"Ancient Chinese Sports" discovers how some of the games of the Olympic originated in the country.
