"Baker" to open Atlanta fest

The Atlanta film fest will open with the world premiere of Ralph Wilcox's "The Lena Baker Story," about Georgia's first female execution in 1945. Baker was convicted of murdering her employer, whom she accused of sexual slavery.
The film also is the debut production from Colquitt, Georgia's Jokara-Micheaux Studios - a 20,000 square foot production studio opened in 2006.
Actors Peter Coyote, Beverly Todd, Michael Rooker, and Chris Burns will attend the screening on April 10.

Michael Jones is the film festival editor at Variety.com.
