Film Comment Selects fest follows the mag
Manohla Dargis has a look at this year's Film Comment Selects, the annual fest put on by the cineste mag that's running now. I love the sound of this festival -- a program that is both "maddening" and "committed." All festivals should strive to piss off their audience. It beats mediocrity everytime.
Boundaries of geography, genre and taste are tested and occasionally trampled in the ninth edition of Film Comment Selects... You may want to throw the magazine against the wall on occasion, but it remains essential reading.
