13The Foibles of the Men’s Club
Some recent studies have left me worried about the ability of men to make tough decisions. The problem – let’s be blunt about this – revolves around our testosterone cycles. In other words, our periods.
According to Nicholas D. Kristof, writing in the New York Times, British researchers have found that stock traders tend to take bigger risks when their testosterone levels register at higher levels. Morning saliva tests were used to track the changing levels.
What all this suggests, of course, is that when guys are in heat, we may start making bad decisions.
These findings may come as a blow to old-school CEOs who worry about the supposed impact menstrual cycles may have on women’s decision-making abilities. As Kristof points out, however, the worst decision-making has been exhibited by Wall Street, which is the most male-dominated area of our society.
Guys run Wall Street and they’re clearly testosterone-crazed. The bailout clearly should be conditioned on installing some women bankers.

You can observe this phenomenon around 1AM in any Night Club or Bar.
