30An Hour Without Power
TV talk show hosts get fired all the time, but the termination of one TV stalwart last week seemed particularly cold. Rev. Robert H. Schuller canned his son, Robert A. Schuller, from the “Hour of Power” only three years after handing the show over to him. There was no official explanation of the firing, other than that there was a “Difference in vision.” The senior Schuller’s “vision” has built the fifty year old Crystal Cathedral into this country’s first mega-church, and the TV show has vast reach.
In the end, though, the ministry business isn’t much different from the network business. The younger Schuller’s job was to build a younger demo. As the Schuller congregants have gotten older, the Hour was losing its power.
The younger Schuller will continue to preach, however, and add to his collection of thirteen religious books. Meanwhile the show will continue with Daddy’s re-runs.
TV is a tough business, even if you profess to have help from Above.

The young people weren't coming, the church and program were dropping in attendance and viewership. Now, it's rarely Robert H. who speaks; it’s an assortment of the best and the brightest and most impacting Christian speakers and preachers from around the world. Robert A. could have been a part of it, but he wanted all or nothing.

This sucks! Jr.was awsome he drew in the younger crowd. Why on earth would his father fire him when he was doing an exceptional job!?

It was refreshing to see the younger generation Schuller appear to be more bold in his preaching of the gospel in a day of age where it seems to be becoming more watered down. i pray that his father will allow the Holy Spirit to move him in a way that will reconcile he and his son

It is very sad and we miss Robert Schuller Jr. who we thought was doing an excellent job...better then his father.
