Directed by Danny Boyle, the film nabbed four prizes in all, including best director, best breakthrough performance by Dav Patel and best adapated screenplay by Simon Beaufoy.
Mickey Rourke won top acting honors for his turn in Fox Searchlight's “The Wrestler,” while Meryl Streep took home the prize for best actress for her performance in Miramax's “Doubt.”
Supporting trophies went to Heath Ledger for Warner Bros. film “The Dark Knight” and Rosemarie DeWitt for Sony Pictures Classics’ “Rachel Getting Married.”
The WAFCA is comprised of 46 DC-VA-MD based film critics from television, radio, print and online.
