Other contenders in the category are "Stranded: I Have Come From a Plane That Crashed on the Mountains," "Kassim the Dream" and "Young at Heart."
The nominees in the short film category are "Kicks Like a Girl," "La Corona," "Redemption Stone," "Smile Pinki" and "Tongzhi in Love."
On the TV side, the IDA nominees in the limited series category are "CNN Presents: God’s Warriors," PBS’ "The Jewish Americans" and "The War" and Sundance Channel’s "Sin City Law." Contenders in the continuing series heat are Showtime’s "This American Life" and PBS’ "Nova," "American Masters" and "Wide Angle."
The IDA kudos include the Pioneer Award to Rob Epstein, whose list of credits include doc "The Times of Harvey Milk." UCLA professor and filmmaker Marina Goldovskaya will receive the Preservation & Scholarship award.
Editor Sam Pollard has been named the recipient of the Avid editing award in its inaugural year, while the Jacqueline Donnet Emerging Filmmaker nod will go to helmer Stefan Forbes.
The IDA previously announced that helmer Werner Herzog would be receiving this year’s career achievement award.
Award ceremony, hosted by filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, will be held Dec. 5 at the Directors Guild of America HQ in Los Angeles.
