Leading the charge for the pay cabler was the final season of "The Wire," which picked up noms for top drama and program of the year, as well as for the Heritage Award - given to a long-running program with a track record of high achievement and a lasting cultural or social impact. In addition, "Wire" exec producer David Simon was nominated for individual achievement in drama.

Also faring well was HBO miniseries "John Adams," which was nominated for movie/mini, program of the year and individual achievement for Paul Giamatti.

AMC freshman series "Mad Men" drew four mentions, for drama, new program, program of the year and star Jon Hamm.

Other program of the year nominees are ABC's "Lost" and documentarian Ken Burns' "The War," which aired on PBS. The public service network earned nine noms.

Besides "Mad Men" and "The Wire," nominated dramas are "Damages" (FX), "Friday Night Lights" (NBC) and "Lost." The five nominated comedies are NBC's "30 Rock" and "The Office," Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" and "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" plus HBO's "Flight of the Conchords."

The TCA Awards, to be voted upon by more than 200 TV critics and journalists, will be held July 19 at the Beverly Hilton.
