Showtime's Matt Blank and Disney's Anne Sweeney will receive the Natl. Cable & Telecommunications Assn.'s Vanguard Awards in May. Microsoft's Paul Allen is also among the nine who will be honored by the org at its annual confab in New Orleans.
Back to topBlank, chairman-CEO of Showtime, and Sweeney, prexy of Disney-ABC TV Group, were cited for their contributions to the cable biz.
Allen will be lauded for his work in science and technology, Comcast VP of government affairs Brett Perkins for young leadership and E.W. Scripps Co. prexy-CEO Kenneth W. Lowe for programming.
Steven Brookstein, exec VP of operations at Bresnan Communications, will receive the award for cable operations management; Carol A. Melton, Time Warner exec VP of global public policy, for government and community relations; Sam Howe, Time Warner Cable exec VP-chief marketing officer, for marketing; and Michael Pohl, C-COR prexy of global strategies, for associates and affiliates.
Cable Show 2008 runs May 18-20.
