'Dates' tops Super ads

Sony pic ranks top according to IAG

NEW YORK -- Janet Jackson may have won the honors for most memorable Super Bowl moment, but Sony and Disney may have scored the most studio ad points for their contribution to the game's ad bonanza.

The trailer for Sony's Valentine's Day release "50 First Dates" landed the top spot among the movie ads, according to Gotham-based marketing research company IAG, which tested the reaction to the ads of respondents under the age of 60.

IAG judged the nine ads that aired on the CBS broadcast on survey respondent's "intent to see" and "likability" of pic. Disney Olympic hockey film "Miracle" ranked second followed by Brad Pitt starrer "Troy."

"50 First Dates" had a "strong presence and clearly appeals to the kind of broad audience that tunes into the Super Bowl," said IAG co-chief exec Ken Orkin.

Ads for films "The Alamo," "Starsky & Hutch," "Van Helsing," "Secret Window," "Hidalgo" and "The Ladykillers" also ran during the Super Bowl.
