Woods headed to 'Paradise'
Woods describes "Paradise" as a tragic love story framed against the violent and dark world of thieves and heroin addicts in 1970s Tulsa, Okla.
It's based on a book by Eddie Little along with Clark's own personal experiences in compiling the photography book "Tulsa." Stephen Chin is the producer. A major female star is expected to join Woods in the film, which is being financed independently.
Though the budget's low, the main attraction for the actor is the chance to work for the world-class photographer who recently turned director. As such, it would continue Woods' strategy to seek out and work for helmers who interest him.
"I've benefited tremendously in the past few years by working with cutting-edge directors like Oliver Stone, Martin Scorsese, Robert Zemeckis, John Carpenter and Rob Reiner," Woods said. "It is one basis of judging a project that always holds true. There is a new rank of cutting-edge filmmakers, and one of the chief among these for me is Larry Clark."
Woods is repped by ICM's Toni Howard and Nikki Pfeffer.
