Writer's Project seeks entries
Among the recent grads from the program are Steven Gregg, who recently completed a rewrite of the feature "Nuclear Family" for Amblin and has been given a multipicture deal at Amblin; Matthew Carnahan, who wrote an original screenplay for Tom Hanks at Disney and recently optioned his play "Knees of a Cellist" to MGM; and Pat O'Connor, whose feature "Zoo" will be produced by Amblin with Tony Drazen attached to direct.
The program, which is expecting some 3,500 applicants this year, offers a yearlong fellowship for 10 writers during which time they will develop and write two screenplays. The works will be read and critiqued by production execs and the participants will have mentors and executives working with them.
The application deadline is May 17. Each script generated out of the program will be considered for production or sale by the Chesterfield Film Company.
Writers must submit a screenplay, play or work of short fiction along with an application form. Applications are available through the Chesterfield company.
