A unique experiment in TV programming drew 33 million viewers in France March 7, as two-thirds of the population tuned in to watch all or part of a six-hour special "All Against AIDS."
The show, which combined discussion groups, reportages, live bands and a host of talent, was shown simultaneously on all of France's national networks as well as pay TV web Canal Plus, cultural web Arte and overseas broadcaster RFO.
It raised just under $ 10 million in donations. Estimates are that the total will climb significantly as postal offerings work their way through the system.
