NBC: Signs of 'Life'
NBC honchos huddled with Barry Levinson and Tom Fontana, the detective drama's nervous parents, last week to hammer out a deal that would keep the show in production.
A formal agreement is expected sometime today.
A renewal would mark a third chance for the drama, which bowed after the Super Bowl last season and, after a low-rated run, returned this year, airing four times in "L.A. Law's" Thursday slot.
NBC Entertainment prez Warren Littlefield alluded to the web's desire to keep "Homicide" in its nest at Friday's Intl. Radio & Television Society newsmaker lunch.
"Homicide" delivered a borderline performance in its most recent stint, generating a strong 17.3 rating, 28 share with its Jan. 6 premiere before slipping to a 12.2/20 average for three airings.
