Atlantic Group cashes in on Grammy performances

The Atlantic Group has entered into a long-term pact with the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences to release audio and video collections of live performances from the Grammy Awards telecasts, marking the first time the Grammy shows have been commercially available.

First title to be released under the new pact through Atlantic's A*Vision banner will be "Grammy's Greatest Moments," a two-volume video and four-volume audio collection that will be available in stores starting today.

Proceeds from sales will go to MusiCares, the org's charitable arm, which helps people in the music industry through its financial aid program, national health plan and emergency relief fund.

"This collection literally charts the course and character of our culture," said Mike Greene, NARAS prez/CEO. "It showcases the anthems which have served as the score to the past three decades."

Warner Music Enterprises will sell the set through infomercials and direct marketing.

Future collections include a set covering the Grammys' country artist perfs.
