Kerrigan figures into Eye ratings

"Nancy Kerrigan & Her Friends" skated past the competition in Nielsen overnights Saturday, despite facing a two-hour figure skating special on ABC.

CBS' one-hour Kerrigan spec scored a 13.6 rating, 22 share at 9 p.m., actually building on the 18 share lead-in of "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman."

ABC, meanwhile, ran neck-and-neck with the Eye network from 8-10 p.m., posting a 20 share in the overnights with its "IBM Skates of Gold" special.

CBS had scheduled skating for 10 of 16 nights of its Winter Olympics coverage , even before the Kerrigan-Tonya Harding story exploded in the news.

NBC, meanwhile, was euphoric over the sweeps-opening Thursday perf of "Frasier" (21.8/32), which, with the return of ex-wife Lilith, scored its best rating yet, and for the first time improved on its "Seinfeld" lead-in.

Those massive 9-10 p.m. numbers helped the return of "L.A. Law" (13.4/22) score its second-highest rating of the season, though the drama still trailed "PrimeTime Live" (14.2/23).
