MCA's Pictaggi picked to chair laserdisc org
Pictaggi, a senior VP of MCA Home Entertainment Group, will oversee implementation of consumer awareness programs and chart the organization's game plan for increasing its clout to champion the interests of laserdisc suppliers and retailers.
"We're resolved to vigorously promote laserdisc as an active format with which consumers can continue to enjoy video entertainment at its best," Pictaggi said.
Pictaggi said the Laser Disc Assn.'s agenda will include developing an awards program and cross-promotions with studios to get the word out on the superior quality of laser and its role in the homevideo marketplace.
Surge in interest
Laserdisc is experiencing a surge in interest from consumers, spurred in part by the development of the home theater industry.
Also elected as officers of the Laser Disc Assn. were Martin Greenwald, Image Entertainment CEO, chairman and president; and Michael Fidler, senior VP of marketing of the home electronics unit of Pioneer Electronics.
