Summit takes 'Blair' duo's 'Heart'

Sanchez, Myrick pitch to 75 invitees

Visit Cannes 2000

CANNES -- Summit Entertainment has picked up international rights to the comedy spoof "Heart of Love" from Haxan Films' Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick, the creators of "The Blair Witch Project." Summit have brought Sanchez and Myrick to Cannes for an invitation-only pitch session on the project for about 75 foreign buyers Friday.

Although Artisan Entertainment acquired "Heart" just before the Sundance Film Festival, Sanchez and Myrick held on to the international rights under their Haxan label. With Summit now in place, "Heart" has the same worldwide distribution team that handled "Blair Witch" as well as its upcoming sequels.

"Heart of Love," which is slated to begin production this fall, is billed as a spoof in the vein of "Kentucky Fried Movie" and "Airplane!"
