For the first time since its formation, Cannell Distribution will syndicate a series from an outside production firm.
The company is rolling out "Peepers," a half-hour weekly dark comedy for fall 1994 earmarked primarily for slots adjoining "Saturday Night Live" and "Married ... with Children."
Cannell Distribution prez Pat Kenney describes the series as a cross between "Love, American Style" and "The Twilight Zone."
The quirky, off-beat anthology series, consisting of two half-hour vignettes tied together by a grandmotherly voyeur, comes from Independent Pictures.
The principals in the company are producer-writer-directors Clay Harrison, Eddie Barbini, Sean McNamara and Tom Kramer, all vets of "Totally Hidden Video" and the recent firstrun syndie version of "Candid Camera."
"Peepers," one of many weekly half-hours that will be unveiled by syndicators at NATPE, will consist of 26 half-hours to be sold on a straight barter basis.
Cannell is also prepping "Hawkeye," a frontier series based on the writing of 19th-century novelist James Fenimore Cooper. It will reportedly revolve around the French and Indian War on the Canadian border.
Sources say Lynda Carter and Lee Horsley are being considered for the leads.
