Margolis to helm 6th Oscarcast

For the sixth consecutive year, Jeff Margolis has been tapped to direct the telecast of the Oscars, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences said Monday.

For his work on the 62nd Academy Awards telecast, Margolis received a Directors Guild of America award; he also got Emmy noms for helming the 63rd, 64 th and 65th Oscarcasts, all hosted by Billy Crystal.

"Once again I am honored to be part of the entertainment industry's biggest event," Margolis said. "I look forward to the challenges that (Oscar broadcast producer) Gil Cates has in store for me this year and I can't wait to get started."

"Jeff is a great director," said Cates. "I look forward to working with him on No. 5."

The 66th annual Oscars will be presented March 21 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Los Angeles Music Center and broadcast live at 6 p.m. PT on ABC.
