Miramax closes on 'House' deal

Miramax Films said Monday that it has acquired English-language remake rights to the Swedish-language comedy "House of Angels," which it plans to produce with screenwriter/director Colin Nutley attached.

The company said production on the movie will start in fall 1994. The pic is about a small town turned upside down with gossip after the death of the local elderly squire.

In cutting the deal for "House of Angels," Miramax acquired worldwide rights excluding Scandinavia from AB Memfis Film and Television. Producer Lars Jonsson said the movie is "ripe for a Hollywood make-over."
