Grundy in sale talks

Capital Cities/ABC and Bertelsmann have emerged as rival candidates to buy Grundy Worldwide, the international TV production company owned by Australian millionaire Reg Grundy.

Both media giants have been in serious talks with Grundy in the past few months, although two other U.S. groups are believed to have expressed interest in a deal.

The price tag is north of $ 200 million, say sources, although it is not clear if Grundy has really made up his mind to sell the company he has run for 34 years.

A rep confirmed that Grundy had "received expressions of interest to acquire the company by major media groups around the world."

"Grundy Worldwide has listened to proposals and will continue the dialogue with various interested parties, but the final decision has not been made," he said.
