'Dove' returns on top

The concluding three hours of "Return to Lonesome Dove" posted a 15.2 rating, 24 share for CBS on Thursday, winning the night but continuing a steady decline from its opener.

The seven-hour miniseries finished with a 16.4/25 overall -- relatively strong but down 37% from the 26.1/39 lassoed by the four-part, eight-hour original in February 1989.

The stiff competition did knock "L.A. Law" (10.3/17) to what's believed to be its lowest rating ever for an original episode. "Dove" broke a three-week Thursday streak for NBC, which has won the night seven out of nine times this season.
