Stanley Myers

Stanley Myers, 63, British composer of more than 100 film and TV scores, died on Nov. 9 of cancer.

Myers was best known for "Cavatina," the theme for the 1977 film "The Deer Hunter." It earned him the Ivor Novello Award.

He worked on many films for Nicolas Roeg, including "Insignificance, ""Castaway,""Track 29" and the upcoming "Heart of Darkness"; and for Stephen Frears, such as "My Beautiful Laundrette" (with Hans Zimmer) and "Prick Up Your Ears," for which he won the award for artistic contribution at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival.

He composed various pieces for Peter Cook's Establishment club in the 1950s before moving into film and television.

At the time of his death, he was working on the BBC's "Middlemarch."

Other works that he scored include "Ulysses,""Dreamchild,""Danny, Champion of the World," Jerzy Skolimowski's "Moonlighting,""Voyager,""Iron Maze," and the BBC's "All Gas and Gaiters." He won the Novello award a second time for "The Witches" in 1991.

Survived by his wife and a son.

Joel Malone

Writer-director Joel Malone died Nov. 16 at the Medical Center of North Hollywood after complications from a stroke. He was 77.

He worked at KNX-CBS and had associations with Warner Bros., MGM, Universal Studios, Allied Artists and Screen Gems.

Among his screen credits were "Crime by Night,""Illegal Entry" and "Just Across the Street."

He was perhaps best known for writing and directing mystery radio works, including "Satan's Waitin' " and "The Whistler" series.

In the 1950s, Malone turned to a career in radio and television advertising.

He worked for such agencies as Carl Brown Co., D'Arcy and N.W. Ayer.

He is survived by his daughter, two sons and a granddaughter.

Visitation will be held today and Saturday at Glendale's Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family asks that memorials be contributed to one's favorite charity.

Harris Dudelson

Harris Dudelson, 89, executive for Buena Vista Pictures Distribution, died Nov. 14 of natural causes in Florida.

Dudelson was associated with Buena Vista for a 20-year period beginning in 1954 until his retirement when he was vice president, domestic sales manager.

Before working for Disney's distribution arm, he was involved in sales for United Artists.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Mount Sinai.
