Par casts Aquila as veep

Deborah Aquila was named veepee of casting for the motion picture group of Paramount Pictures on Friday, replacing Nancy Foy, who resigned from the post at the Hollywood-based studio.

In her new position, Aquila is responsible for casting of Paramount movies, including discovering new talent and rounding out the casts of packaged movies.

As part of her studio deal, Aquila will continue to work on her own projects through her own Deborah Aquila Casting.

Aquila was announced by Paramount motion picture group president John Goldwyn. In a statement, Goldwyn lauded her "impeccable sense of talent" and trumpeted her ability to workwith A-list producers and directors.

The executive comes to Paramount after establishing a pellmell pace. She's currently casting "Imaginary Crimes" from "Zebrahead" director Anthony Drazen, and director Des McAnuff's "A Sudden Darkness," following work on "The Tool Shed ,""The New Age" and "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption."
