Humanitas prize goes to the movies

The Human Family Cultural & Educational Institute has announced application rules for a new $ 25,000 Humanitas prize for the writer of a screenplay.

The awards, traditionally given to television writers, honor writers for work that communicates values that enrich people.

In this new category, a screenplay for an English-language pic is eligible if the film has been screened in at least 200 U.S. markets, including eight of the 10 top, that year.

The Humanitas eligibility season is from April 16, 1993, through April 15, 1994. Anyone may submit a screenplay. To get an entry blank, call Judy Conway Greening at (310) 454-8769 or write to the Humanitas office, P.O. Box 861, Pacific Palisades, Calif. 90272. There is no fee and no limit to the number of submissions.
