Blockbuster Entertainment Corp. is stepping into the computerized entertainment business by test marketing CD-ROM gear in 50 northern California stores.

Blockbuster's entry represents one of the first mass marketing efforts for the technology. A spokesman refused Friday to reveal details of the plan until a news conference scheduled for this week.

Interactive Videosystems Inc. has signed a software license agreement with 3 DO Co. to develop interactive titles compatible with the recently launched 3DO Interactive Multiplayer CD-ROM. Royalty terms were not disclosed, but a company spokesman termed them "very competitive."
