UPN looking to Spice up primetime with special

UPN next month will air a one-hour special on the British pop group the Spice Girls, the group's first American TV special.

"Spice Girls: Too Much Is Never Enough," which airs Dec. 10, will feature the group's broadcast TV premiere of the new musicvideo "Too Much."

UPN Entertainment chief Tom Nunan said the special will complement the netlet's female teen lineup on Tuesday, which features "Clueless" and "Moesha." In fact, Brandy, the star of "Moesha" who's also a pop singer, will interview the Spice Girls in interstitial spots throughout the night.

Ken Ehrlich is the executive producer of the special, and Gary Tellalian is the producer. The Virgin Records group has sold more than 19 million units of their debut album worldwide and its second album, "Spiceworld," was released this week.
