The Sundance Institute has created a producing fellowship in honor of Bingham Ray, the independent film luminary who passed away at this year's festival.
Access to labs, grants and advisor relationships will be made available to the inaugural recipient, who will be announced this summer.
''Bingham embodied so much of what makes a great independent film producer -- passion, unwavering commitment, tenacity and a deep love of cinema,'' said Sundance Institute exec director Keri Putnam. ''We hope that his clarity of purpose around films that he championed lives on in the spirit of a new generation of producers.''
The fellowship, announced Friday night at the Los Angeles memorial for Ray, is the fifth such fellowship from the Sundance Institute, from which recipients draw a $5,000 living stipend, a $5,000 pre-production grant, and year-round support from the institute.
